What does the City of Philadelphia's Department of Licenses and Inspections (L&I) do?
L&I is the city agency responsible for building safety and property regulation in Philadelphia. It issues zoning and building permits and business and rental licenses, inspects construction and existing buildings, and enforces the codes through violations and, in serious cases, legal action.
